How old do I have to be to join Tauranga Airsoft Club?
Club policy has changed recently. You must be at least 16 years old with your firearms license to join Tauranga Airsoft Club. If you are over 18 years you do not need a NZ Firearms License. At open game days we welcome non-members 13 and up with adult supervision.
If you are between 16 to 17, and would like to join, you will need to ensure you have your Release of Liability Waiver form for minors filled in by your parent or guardian, along with your membership form, your membership fee and a photocopy of your NZ Firearms License. Bring these along to the next club game day and give them to the administrator when you register for the day. You will receive a TAC club patch when you join Tauranga Airsoft Club.
How old do I have to be to play at a Tauranga Airsoft club game?
We encourage people of all ages to play Airsoft, however players must be at least 13 years old to play on our field . Players under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Do I have to have my own airsoft gun to play?
You do not need to own Airsoft gear in order to play, the club has high quality hire gear. The hire fee of $30 for the day gets you a hire package consisting of a semi-automatic electric M4 style assault rifle, face mask, and 350 BBs.
There is a minimum of 24 hour notice required to book hire gear for club game days.
What Airsoft gun should I buy?
Buy the gun that best suits your Airsoft style of game play. As a new Airsoft player, you are probably still learning how you best like to play. Attend a couple of club games, and have a chat to other Airsoft players about their gear and guns before you commit your finances.
There are great NZ based retailers who sell an excellent range of Airsoft guns and gear.
Be careful of purchasing second hand guns online, unless you are confident you can fix/repair problems if they arise.
If you are planning to import a gun in from overseas, you will require a permit to do so. Get in contact with your local Arms Officer for further information about how to do this.
How much does it cost to join Tauranga Airsoft Club?
Membership Fees to join Tauranga Airsoft Club are $60 per year. Being a club member gets you benefits such as discounted BBs and field fees at local club games, a club patch, and access to the Facebook Tauranga Airsoft Club group. This is a closed group where members can discuss upcoming games, tactics, away games etc.
If you would like to join Tauranga Airsoft Club, download a Membership Form or get one on a game day and complete the form. Present it to the administrator at the next club Game Day, along with your membership fee.
If you are under 18 you will need to provide the “Release Of Liability Waiver Form For Minors” filled in by your parent or guardian , along with your membership form and a photocopy of your NZ firearms licence.

How often does Tauranga Airsoft Club play?
Tauranga Airsoft Club generally run club game days every second Sunday (weather dependent) with a working bee inbetween. Working bees are great as your attendace earns you a free game day and other perks. Do you play with other Airsoft clubs?
TAC loves to play with other Airsoft clubs. We frequently travel as a group to play in other areas, and these away games are a fun part of the Airsoft calendar. Away games will be posted on the website, and also on the club Facebook page as well to enable members to arrange attendance, car-pooling and co-ordination.
Where do you play Airsoft?
Tauranga Airsoft Club has leased 12ha of land within the TECT All Terrain Park. The park is situated off State Highway 26, the main link between Tauranga and Rotorua. The land that TAC leases is situated between the Deerstalker’s range and the Tauranga Pistol Club range. This leased land is currently in the process of being developed with the long term goal to create one of the premier Airsoft venues in New Zealand.
TAC also plays on other privately owned land as opportunities arise. Upcoming game events will have specific locations listed as part of game day information.
Can I smoke on your Airsoft field?
Tauranga Airsoft Club does not allow smoking anywhere on their fields. This is a TECT park rule due to high fire risk, if you wish to smoke you will need to exit the TECT park and smoke on the highway. Vaping is fine but please make sure to be mindful of others.
Are there toilets / bathrooms at your Airsoft field?
There are toilet facilities at the information centre at the entry to the TECT All Terrain Park. You can also find running water.
Is there cellphone coverage at your Airsoft field?
There is cellphone coverage at the TECT All Terrain Park. In some places you may loose reception but safe zone is fully covered.
Can I bring friends to play at a Tauranga Airsoft Club game?
Tauranga Airsoft Club always encourages members and new players to bring as many friends as they like. The more the merrier!
Hire gear is generally available at every game (minimum 24 hours notice required to book) at a cost of $30 for M4 style Airsoft gun, safety mask, and 300 BBs. Entry fee is $20 and you are able to purchase more ammo on the day.

What is a Handle?
A handle is a nickname that players use on the field. Players usually either choose something themselves, or they have earned it through their game play style, or something humurous that occurred on the field during a game. Handles are a fun and useful way of identifying players, and players often have their handles displayed on their gear.
